• Question: Do you recommend a job in science and why/why not?

      I would recommend studying science. I quite like my job as it has lots of variety and I get to manage my own workload and choose my own hours. I often get bored easily so it’s nice to be able to change things up to prevent that.

      I think studying science is a great move as it gives you a lot of skills that are applicable to any job.

      You will get some lab training which requires you to be able to multitask, keep to deadlines, take good notes and think critically. A research project is a great demonstration of all these things and a great thing to have on your CV.

      Doing science also qualifies you to work in a range of careers and gives you a lot of options. A lot of people in my class from uni are working in industry or with science engagement now. Some have also used their degree to get jobs in law and insurance firms too.
