      Yes, impact to the head can cause damage to the brain (although not always). It depends how hard and where in the head the impact affects. For example, NFL players have an unusually high incidence of depression which is thought to be due to multiple occasions of impact to the head during years of playing. Also, Muhammad Ali, the boxer, got Parkinson’s disease, and it has been suggested that this could be due to impact to the head during his boxing career.
