Being a scientist is a lot of fun but it can often be quite difficult.

Experiments are tricky and biology is often more complicated than we appreciate. Sometimes some experiments just don’t work and you never really are sure why. This can last for a few weeks or months as you try different approaches or things to troubleshoot but when you do finally get it to work and then the results pile in it can feel amazing!

It’s great! You learn new things, make discoveries, travel around to present your work and conferences and even get to chat to nice people like you, Chloe.

(Disclaimer: there are some bad days and boring tasks too, but I guess that happens in every job.)
