Yes!

I have found skin cells actually need two proteins to work together to be able to properly detect virus infections. Before my research, everyone thought all the work was carried out by just one protein!

Using genetic tools we made cells that didn’t have one or the other of these detector proteins, and we found that they couldn’t produce help me signals when infected with viruses.
