Depends what you consider by a challenge.

Scientifically there have been times in my PhD where I’ve had to go out of my comfort zone and learn lots about chemistry and physics to develop a new technique to measure signals produced during infections. This was hard as I struggled with chemistry a bit in University.

Personally, it was a bit difficult to leave home and move to a new country to start my PhD. I do miss Ireland sometimes and it was quite tough at first but I’ve made new friends and got to visit lots of new places since moving to the UK.
