The tricky thing about cancer is that it’s really an umbrella term for a lot of different diseases that are each subtly different. Often how they occur is a mystery.

Bowel cancer is often associated with a bad lifestyle of smoking, heavy drinking and poor diet. There are also some mutations that people can inherit that increase their risks of getting cancer. These usually manifest as mistakes when DNA is coping itself when cells divide causing them to mutate more often and increase the chances of a tumour and cancer developing.
