      That is a tough one. I like most things – I probably do not like the paperwork side of it, but I think that is something you have in all jobs.

      Interesting question! I wish there were more people you could talk about the details of your research about. Sometimes it can feel that you are working all on your own which isn’t as nice as working as part of a team.

      When I feel like that I try to give a talk to explain to my colleagues what I’ve been doing. There helps me keep going during the moments when I feel I’m working on my own…

      The hours can be long and unpredictable. Sometimes you know that the only thing standing between you and success is you, and the only thing that can be done is push forward and work work work!

      About 80% of the time experiments don’t work first time round, and require a lot of time consuming tinkering (called optimisation), which can really be demoralising if you’re just looking to do a “quick experiment” and it ends up taking months! It can be a challenge to stay constantly motivated.
