      Hi John-Gerald.

Difficult question… I could tell you about the football match during recess in which I was the goal-keeper. The goal posts were marked by a pile of rucksacks. I was daydreaming and ended up accidentally defending the area between two wrong piles of rucksacks and let a couple of easy goals in! My team was (justifiably) furious for a long time.

On a more serious note, I felt a lot of my school teachers were not very supportive. I signed up for a few extra science activities. I was disappointed that none of my school teachers took an interest and some of the silliest ones even made fun of me and called me a geek…

Anyway, I ended up representing Portugal in the International Physics Olympiads when I was 18 and made lots of friends from all over the world, which was great fun! (And I have always thought that being called a geek was a bit of a compliment!)

My least favourite subject at school was French. I found it really hard and much preferred learning Gaelic (which is a school subject back in Ireland).

My favourite subjects were Biology, Chemistry, English and Woodwork. I was actually really sad to give up woodwork when I moved towards the A levels.
