I guess you can blame my Dad for me being a scientist. Although he’s not a scientist, he’s a taxi driver!

But when I was 10 my Dad got sick with cancer. My parents thought I was too young to understand what was going on so I ended up teaching myself about what all these words like “tumour” and “chemotherapy” meant using encyclopaedias (we didn’t have wikipedia in 2000!). Working all this out got me interested in Biology and I guess the interest stuck throughout school too.

      Hi Jess.

I love learning new things, especially about science. When I finished school, I wanted to learn more about physics, so I did a physics degree.

When I finished the degree, I wanted to carry on learning even more and thought it would be the first person to actually know something! I then signed up for a PhD (which is like being an apprentice scientist) and have never wanted to stop learning more and more!

What do you like learning about?
